What is a group buy?

Updated

A group buy is a way for several traders to split the price of one trading product, such as a course, an expert advisor (a trading robot for MetaTrader), an indicator or a bundle of them. An organizer announces the product and members join. Each member pays a share instead of the full price, and the share is smaller the earlier a member joins. When enough people have paid, the organizer buys the product and delivers it to everyone who paid, and the group buy closes. On TraderCommons the price, the current stage and the timer are shown before you pay, your payments are recorded in your history, and money paid into a group buy is not released to the organizer until the group buy is completed. If a group buy is cancelled, your payments return to your balance.

Group buy or buying alone

  • You pay a share of the price, not the whole price.
  • You see the stage and the timer, so you know what is left before the contribution grows.
  • Your payments are recorded, and the money waits until the organizer has delivered.

What you can find here

Group buys on TraderCommons cover four kinds of products: trading courses, expert advisors, indicators and bundles. Items that are already bought can be taken from the shop, and free materials have their own list.

What a group buy does not do

A group buy does not promise results. A course, a robot or an indicator is a tool: a past test does not predict the future, and a robot can lose money. Start on a demo account and read the description before you pay.

What to check before you join

  • The format of the product and the current stage.
  • The total and its breakdown.
  • When you pay, and when you can leave.
  • How you get access.
